From its humble beginnings since first formed by John Collumbine in February 2004, FDW Ltd (Freight Despatch Worldwide) has grown from strength to strength to become one of the leading freight forwarding agents in the Sheffield area.

John, a veteran of the industry having over 30 years experience and being a director himself of a freight forwarding operation, decided upon a new challenge and showing true entrepreneurial spirit started his own company. 

In 2009 John was joined by Derek and shortly afterwards Steve who add a further diversity to the business. Derek has commercial experience dating back to when he worked for what was, British Steel Corporation. He gained operational forwarding experience before going on to work for trailer operators in West Yorkshire, moving on to operate in a UK and Overseas sales capacity for Eclipse Magnetics in Sheffield.

Steve had previously worked for a leading chain manufacturer in the North of England primarily handling imports from the Far East as well as South and Central America and is familiar with both air and sea exports procedures all across the globe.

In June 2019 John retired and Derek and Steve whom having learned a great deal from him took the opportunity offered of a MBO. After investing both personal finance and enthusiasm the new owners Derek & Steve look forward to continuing the high standards maintained under John' s leadership. Helping along the way is new recruit Sharon whom brings her own experience and skills and is proving to be a real asset to our team.

We pride ourselves on looking after our customers interests first and foremost, keeping them informed at all times on the transit process from door to door, (regardless of experience in forwarding logistics). Also, offering alternative ideas which could improve upon the overall service provided to our customer.
